Usage events

A usage event is the raw input to rating, one per metered action.

Rating

Rating is the match against the contract's usage terms.

Tiered pricing

If usage crosses a price tier mid-submission, Summance prices each portion at its own tier's rate in the same rating pass. You don't submit usage per tier yourself.

Economic events

An economic event is the resulting record, one per rated usage event - the thing an invoice line traces back to.

Worked example

Driftmetric sends 62,000 call events this month; rating matches 12,000 of them against the $0.02 rate (the 50,000 minimum absorbs the rest) and produces one economic event per call above the minimum.
