Connect Xero

Summance creates draft invoices directly in your Xero organisation and reads existing invoices and contacts, so your books and your billing never drift apart. Connecting it takes a Custom Connection you set up once in your Xero developer account.

Before you start

Create your connection

  1. Log in at developer.xero.com with a login that administers your organisation, then go to My Apps → New app.
  2. Choose the integration type Custom connection and name it (e.g. "Summance integration").
  3. Select only the scopes Summance needs: creating and viewing invoices, and reading contacts.
  4. Set the authorised user to an admin of your organisation, then click Save and connect. Xero emails that person a confirmation link — opening it shows a consent screen where they pick your organisation and approve access.
  5. Back on the app's Configuration page, copy the Client ID and click Generate a secret. Xero shows the secret once, so copy it right away.
  6. Enter the client ID and secret into Summance when you connect Xero.

What Summance does with your credential

Before storing anything, Summance exchanges the pair for a short-lived token and confirms which organisation it's connected to. From then on, Summance uses it only to read invoices and contacts and to create draft invoices in your books, scoped to exactly what you approved.

Disconnecting

Disconnect any time from Summance's Integrations page. Revoking the connection from your Xero organisation's Connected apps settings cuts off access immediately as well.
